An illustrated pre-show discussion with the National Theatre’s Head of Music, Matthew Scott, examining the life, work and relationship of the poet W H Auden and composer Benjamin Britten, who are the central characters in Alan Bennett’s The Habit of Art.

Nutcracker Northern Ballet Theatre Nutcracker Workshops

‘A Step Closer’ Take a step closer to Northern Ballet and enhance your enjoyment of The Nutcracker, with these unique insights into how we bring ballet to life.  All these events can be booked when you purchase your tickets for The Nutcracker simply call the Box Office for more details. Events take place in the theatre unless otherwise stated.

 

Thursday 2 December 9.15am - 12.15pm

Keep dancing for the over 55s

Dance workshop on stage (9.15 - 10.15am) We welcome people of all abilities to grab their dancing shoes in this fun dance workshop for the over 55s. Join in some simple exercises and learn some steps from The Nutcracker. Watch the dancers at work in their daily class and enjoy a talk about the production.

Tickets: £10.00

Tea and coffee to be served from 10.15am - 10.45 am in the Yorkshire Post Room for participants of Keep dancing for the over 55s and Northern Ballet Revealed.

Northern Ballet Revealed

See for yourself what it takes to be a dancer when you watch our dancers be put through their paces in daily class and find out more about The Nutcracker with an informal talk.

Talk in the Emerald Grand Hall (10.45 - 11.15am) followed by watching company class in the auditorium (11.15 - 12.15pm)

Happy Feet! Under 5s Workshop

Get creative with the little one in your life with this fun dance and music session for the under 5s.

10am - 12pm Dance workshop in the rehearsal room and craft workshop in the education suite.

Tickets £5.00 per child, participating adults free. 

 

Sunday 5 December

Festive Family Workshop

Learn and play together in this festive workshop for the whole family.  Get crafty with your little one with prop-making fun inspired by The Nutcracker and dance together as you learn some steps from the production.

Tickets £7.50 per child, participating adults free.
